Created in 2021 on the 100th anniversary of Astor Piazzolla’s birth, “Oda para Astor” celebrates the genius of the great Argentine composer through the notes of an unexpected duo: accordion and flute.
An internationally renowned accordionist and composer, Vince Abbracciante is unanimously recognized as one of the most interesting contemporary performers. His technical skill and musical sensitivity make him a complete and versatile artist.
A talented and refined flutist, Aldo Di Caterino has extensive concert experience in various musical ensembles. His musicality and expressive touch are the ideal complement to Vince Abbracciante’s accordion, creating a duo of great syntony and fellowship.
Astor Piazzolla’s music, with its fusion of tango, jazz and classical music, presents a stimulating interpretive challenge for any musician. The duo Abbracciante & Di Caterino captures the essence of this passion-filled music, transporting the listener into an engaging and evocative atmosphere.
Vince Abbracciante has made the original arrangements for this duo, giving new life to some of Piazzolla’s compositions from the most famous like “Adios Nonino” or “Oblivion” to other lesser-known but no less evocative ones like “Oda para un Hippie” or “Zita.” Its reinterpretations enhance the original melodies, enriching them with new sounds, nuances and rhythms.
The duo is active in concerts and festivals internationally, enjoying great success with audiences and critics, and will soon be in the studio to record the project on disc. “Oda para Astor” is a concert that will appeal to all lovers of tango and quality music.
